Wind Energy Information - Available Wind Turbines

Interested in Wind Power for your home or business in Maine? You have come to the right place. Evolo Energy Solutions offers the widest selection of wind turbines in Maine. Our experienced team includes engineers and construction experts that can bring your renewable energy project to fruition. In addition to our wide selection of wind turbines, Evolo Energy Solutions offers numbers tower options including guyed lattice towers, self-supporting towers, guyed pipe towers and monopoles. Tower heights range from 30 to 150 ft and higher. The rule of thumbs when it comes to wind turbines is ‘the higher the better’. Evolo’s typical installation is 80 to 100ft.

There are to options when it comes to connecting your wind turbine for electricity. First, for off grid applications, we offer battery systems, specifically designed to fit your needs. Second, and most common, is a grid-tie interface. This system uses an inverter that seamlessly connects to the power grid, no batteries needed. A grid-tie installation uses a process called ‘net metering’ in which the utility essentially stores excess power and keeps track of the power you produce. Effectively this gives you two utility meters. One keeps track of the electricity you use and another that keeps track of the electricity you put back on the grid.

The wind resource in Maine varies throughout the year. December, January, February and March are very windy months in Maine, while July and August are typically less windy. Fortunately the twelve month net metering system allows wind turbine owners to maximize production during the windy months and carry any excess for use at less windy times of the year. It is critical to size your wind turbine according to your annual power needs and an Evolo professional can take you through this selection and design process.

Our Grid-Tie Wind Turbines:

The 10Kw Bergey Excel has stood the test of time. Designed and manufactured in Tornado Alley, Norman Oklahoma, the 10Kw machine has a tried and true record of performance. This 3 blade turbine will produce more power than the average household needs, but is great for larger households, farms, and small commercial applications. It is typically installed on a 100ft guyed lattice tower, though other tower designs are available. Click Here for more information.

Eoltec Scirocco is a 6Kw machine is a product of European engineering. Its sleek two-blade, variable pitch design makes this machine a work horse at high wind speeds. Click Here for more information

Raum Energy recently introduced a 3.5Kw turbine to its product line, which includes a 1.3Kw machine. These turbines, produced in Canada, are some of the most affordable. Click Here for more information on the 3.5Kw or Here for more information on the 1.3Kw

Proven Energy’s 2.5Kw, 6Kw and 15Kw down wind turbine design are high performance machines. The flexible blade design maximizes performance in high wind conditions. Proven Energy, founded in 1982, is based in the UK. The 15Kw is a unique size, perfect for a farm or small commercial application.
